The City of Algona, Washington, has partnered with Voyent Alert!, a powerful multi-purpose mass notification service and mobile app developed by ICEsoft Technologies, since 2023.
Voyent Alert! delivers targeted, location-aware alerts to residents, businesses, and visitors through the free Voyent Alert! app (available on Apple and Google Play stores) as well as email, SMS text, and voice calls to landlines.
City officials chose Voyent Alert! to provide timely, accurate updates during critical events such as fires, floods, or severe weather.
The system also handles routine communications like snow removal advisories, planned road maintenance, water quality notices, and community events.
What sets it apart is its smart geospatial technology: alerts are personalized based on locations users choose to “follow” (home, work, school, or family members’ addresses).
Notifications include enriched details—distance and direction to an incident, maps, evacuation routes, and safety instructions—while avoiding irrelevant “message fatigue.”
Privacy is protected; registration is said to be fully anonymous, and no data is shared for marketing.
The City of Algona’s official website promotes the service as a key tool for public safety and daily civic engagement.
